FTSE LIVE: Footsie drops in tandem with US, Asian stocks and on easier oil price

In opening deals, the FTSE 100 Index dropped 49.9 points, or 0.8 per cent at 6,112.6, having closed 5.8 points higher yesterday after a choppy session thanks to a rally by commodity stocks.
